D19 power director issues

I tore into the power director clutch on my D19 tonite.   It seems to go into high range ok, and it holds very well, as I went pulling this weekend and it held just fine.   But it doesn't have the snap in and out of each range  like it should.   High is much better then low, but it seems like there isn't any snap to keep  it into low.   If I want to use this tractor to do more pulling I would like to get the power director working properly.   I did notice a little play between the lever and the shaft, so I backed the lock nut off and tightened the tapered bolt and that tightened up the play but it didnt' help in any of the adjustment.   I drained everything and took off the cover and noticed a bunch of issues.   There is some tins pieces laying in the bottom of the housing, which appear to have come off of two of the clutch links.   When this happened some of the shims got beat up on the outside.    I haven't torn down it any further but I have noticed that right now there is 4 shims in the outer sides and seven shims in the center in each spot, but I haven't broken it down to see what size the shims are or if the outside ones are the smaller shims and the center shims are the longer ones.   I will post some pics of what I have and the few parts I pulled out already.   Where can I buy new shims, are they still available through AGCO?   And if it comes down to having to replace any other parts like plates etc, where can these be purchased.   Looking for any other advise as this is the first power dierector clutch that I will be tearing into.

Not sure about the shims, but I know on our D19 the rollers were out on the PD too so we replaced them. The rollers are available through AGCO yet, so I imagine the shims would probably be too.

Here are some pictures.   This is one of the clutch links that still has that piece of metal on it.  The other two that piece of metal is ripped off and in the bottom of the housing.   What would cause this piece to rip off?   
Here is one of the pieces I pulled out of the bottom.
Here is a picture of the shims, although not a great picture.  Hopefully you can see how chewed up things are.  
 
How hard is it to split the tractor to get full access to the power director?   Things are looking like it might end up that route.  I will be doing alot of reading of the manuals before bed.

Not to hard to split but becarfull reassembling there is a needle bearing in the clutch shaft that you do not want to damage As for the tins they are just oil slinngers to help reduce the power needed to rotate the PD in the oil It seems to me that D19s are more prone than others for having water in that compartment and if it was started will cold out there could have been ice chuncks i have seen 3 D19s with brooken hyd return lines due to beeing full of water then freezing

Makes sense Jesse, and this D19 has the cap missing off of the top of the dipstick where the breather material is so I'm sure at one time, water got in there.   Hopefully I can clean things out and adjust some shims and be good, but I think I will be more into it then that by the time I'm done.

After you get the tractor split and have
the power director clutch apart, there
is one critical thing to note. When you
reassemble the power director, the
total of all three shim packs must
be the correct thickness. Then, if
you need to remove, say, a .015 shim
from the low range clutch, you need to
add a long .015 shim to the middle to
maintain the exact dimension of the
complete power director assembly.
Hope this makes sense. The service
manual will give you the dimensions
of the shim packs for each location.

Well, I had time to take a better look at things before our club meeting and the center shims that were added are all short shims, so at a minimum those will have to be replaced as well as whatever I will need to take out of each side to get back to spec.   The rollers do all look ok from what I can see from the inspection hole.  I am going to try and see if I can measure and adjust it properly by adding shims to the center, but if not, I think I may have a line on a good used one.
