Was looking at a 8050 today and current owner says the only complaint he had about the tractor was getting it out off park in either high or low range. He says he had it looked at by local dealer few years back but they never found anything. Told him that was the nature of the power shift. Would appreciate any advice from the experts on here about is this normal or something is wrong before I go any further. Thanks in advance. Scott

Probably needs a new cable for the range shift.

That is pretty much normal for a power shift, but there are a few tricks to get it to shift easier. Sometimes if you hold the clutch pedal hard to the floor for a couple seconds, then let it up part way, it'll shift good. In other instances, putting the power shift into reverse, and letting the clutch out a little ways, will allow an easy shift of the range shifter. Darrel

If the complaint is rough shifting in and out of park, small range shift cable probly not adjusted right. If complaint is hard to get out of range, shift power shift into reverse or sometimes first gear to shift out of range. If complaint is hard to shift everything involving range shifter, check small cable adjustment. If all else fails, pull rear floor panel out and disconnect the big cable and see if it is dying. A small adjustment of the gate cable can be the difference between shifting like a new Cadillac or an old Pinto.

Thanks for all the advice. From what I was told it was only hard to get it out of park. Everything else works fine.

I agree with using reverse, my 8030 was hard to get out of park as long as I had it, just got used to putting in reverse and that did it and just got to be natural for me.
