It has set out behind without being started for several years. It was a 1938 crank start that I converted to electric start and put a distributor on it. I had put a half can of Seafoam in the gas tank when I took it out back. After pulling it close to the house it has set for about a month. I was sure the battery would have been froze but when I took the lid off the battery box it had not bulged out. I hooked up the battery charger and it was not shorted out. I took my lighted screwdriver type handle test light and checked power at the starter switch and it was hot. I checked then at the coil with the switch on and it did not light. I took the switch box cover off and I only had power on one side of the switch. I put on a new switch and then had power on both sides of the switch and when checking the coil I had power. The sediment bowl had a little brown thick stuff in the bottom. I removed the glass bowl and opened the valve and a trickle was coming out the center. I took the valve out and it gushed out there. I rinsed the glass bowl with the old gas and took a dental pick and dug around in the center bottom hole and a little piece of gunk came out and it was gushing from both places. I screwed the valve back in and drained the remaining old gas out. I put the glass bowl back on and put a gallon of fresh gas in the tank. The starter switch is rusted and will not engage so I remover the two screws and dropped it down out of the way. With the battery charger on for power to the distributor I used my 12 volt jump start battery to run the starter. I took the air breather cap off, after finding the choke would not move, and put the palm of my hand over the pipe as I put power to the starter. After about ten revolutions it started. When I took the battery charger off it died. I just put an old battery in it that will not take a full charge but does have enough power to run the tractor. It now starts instantly as does my C.
I thought some might be interested in the steps I took.

Very interesting Dick. My dad bought his first tractor in 1942 a B row crop on steel. I wished mom would have taken a picture of this tractor but dad replaced it with a WF in 1945 to operate his new Allcrop 60. Do you or anyone else know of any other B row crops? I saw one at Union Grove in 2005.

Dick, I think finding them and getting them running like that is my favorite thing to do with these old machines.  That's why I have a backyard full of them!  Nice post.  I agree with David, what does a narrow B look like?  Could you post a pic?

Good steps to follow for one that has set but isn't froze up
The narrow front B would be a B with a C narrow front end. Kinda the opposite of a C with a B front end. Neither were factory built.

It is the B that I bought years ago and then when I was pulling I put a four inch stroke crankshaft in it. The picture at CTucker's link was when I first rebuilt it and put the B steering box and the arm down to prove a point that you can use a C front and a B steering box without it turning backwards.
What It Looked Like When I Brought It Home

After First Rebuild

Took It Out And Picked Up A First

Having fun after the stroker crank and a modified head.

Last Rebuild and Paint. It sure does not look like this after setting out in the weeds for several years.

Some great insights.  I just bought a CA that is in similar condition;  perhaps a bit better.  But its sat for awhile, the starter switch is a toggle and I'm not quite sure if "up" is on or "off" .  Just cleaned out the old gas, replacing the old rubber gas line and checking for spark.  Ran out of time this past weekend, but going to get inside of the ignition box to look around.

I pulled it out so I could make a pen for three little horses in that area.

Yes it is but I am only using it as a belt tightener. I never got around to switching it over to 12 volt. It came off a 55 Chevy I think. When I had to let my tool maker and plant manager go it put a crimp in my tractor fun. 14 horses don't help that hobby either.

Here is how the poor girl looks this morning.

Rested from chores long enough. I have to go out and pick up bales before it rains and go to the plant and set a mold.
