Working on a 200 got all the outer oil leaks fixed , now the next problem is the POWERDIRECTOR has no neutral - i put the pressure gauge on the fittings to test the pressure and its right on at 300 lbs with a hyd. pto clutch but moving the adjuster rod the pressure never changes - it does go to 280 in a spot , but never to 60 where neutral is supposed to be ; is there anything to check , adjust on the outside , or in the door on the PD ? I am afraid its internal but just hoping to get lucky !!!

Where did you check pressure? There are two test plugs on valve. One for Hi one for Lo. If lever is centered it may have some broken plates. MACK |

I checked the pressure at the T right in front of the steering wheel , usually i can move the cylinder back and forth to determine where neutral is ; when it hits 60 lbs ; the gauge shows a steady 300 , there is one point it will drop to 280, ; i havent checked at the test ports on the valve , Thanks

These are the ports that Mack is talking about. I disconnected the valve so I was sure it was in neutral for the first test. if the pressure is low in both ports you may want to check these bushing. |

There was a factory tech bulletin on changing the length of the linkage to correct this sort of issue. My local A-C dealer, Shantz Farm Equipment in Ontario (1000 miles away), faxed it to me years ago. I made the changes and it sorted out this problem for me. I did eventually have to replace the power director discs some time later. Dan

Just giving this topic a little bump to get it up with the 190 p/d question. Having some issues with my p/d on the 200 again. Hoping for some more input.

I checked the output at the ports its 300 lbs each side - i,ve never seen this test outlined in a fix it manual ; i did figure the ports were for testing there ; i have been testing at the T like the book says and its 300 on each side , it just never drops to 60 for a neutral; i took the hyd. assembly apart that controls the fluid , no change , i believe its prolly in the PD clutch packs or sealing rings - but dont want to go thru pulling the PD in i dont have too !!! Just was thinking maybe someone ran into this before ; i have worked on a few 200,s before and always seem to have pressure issues ,always put new bushings in ; all the linkage is always tight ; wonder what AC changed besides the PD shifter ???

Sounds like you could have valve problems. If you check at the ports shown, you can see which side is engaged. Really sounds like the spool is broken, and or stuck in one position.

Pretty simple.....300 lbs in LOW and zero in HIGH.......300 lbs in HIGH and zero in LOW....neutral should be zero on both gauges. If you got these three things and it creeps terribly (remember a certain amount of creep is normal) you have warped or broken discs and plates.

But the original post says you never get below 280lbs in all three lever positions. That is not broken parts inside. Doesn't mean you don't also have broken parts inside, but cannot be sure until you get near zero psi in neutral. I cannot see any reason that if you are getting 280 in neutral that it is internal from the valve.

I beleve 280 psi at all 3 positons was checking at T after steering not at valve. Like I said before broken or worped plates. Not uncommon on PD. MACK
