Been witling away at some various small issues on the 21 the past month or so, mainly leaks, hoses, stuff like that. I installed speedi sleeves and seals on the axles along with nearly new dynatorqe II's. Used a mean steam pressure washer and some Meguires's rubbing compound did like Darrel and got most of the paint removed off the tractor down to the original paint. Looks pretty good. They painted around the original decals and they pretty well came off so I bought a set and installed them. Gonna go work some ground with it now that the weights are back on. Weight is 10,460 no weights and 14,380 like you see here.

The D21 has always looked like the biggest brute of a tractor that AC has ever made.

The 7580 still looks like more of a brute to me, but the D21 definitely has that "presence" that the other tractors of the time didn't.
Nice machine! |

Looks like you have some 1500 lb Tyler weights on the inside. Have a pair on my 220.
Nice tractor and it's fun and good for them to go to the field.

That's one of my biggest fears I got wiped out by an F5 back in 2011. About 5 miles from my house now. I didn't plan it out very well when I built my house next to my dads. All the big iron is to the south west of my house about 2000'. Most dem Nadors come from the SW traveling NE. Big piece of iron would probably take out my fradyhole. Illgleaner- no big deal. Figured if you had time you'd probably enjoy a visit. How's that last 210 off the assembly line coming?. I acquired another 210 project the other day. Along with some 190's and more d21's. |

Great looking tractor!!! You can still get a good shine on that old paint if they got enough of it sprayed on at the factory.

In 4th gear it's all she wants. Breaking out some ground we haven't farmed in probably 10 years. The fuel is turned up a little from stock setting and it still has some wheel slip. Even a couple times it came to a stop when it hit a hard spot. My dad got a video yesterday of it working in a small patch I'd worked already with a tool bar chisel and the 180. I'll transfer it to my phone later and post it. Definitely loud with the 5" straight pipe. I wore ear plugs! ![]() |

If you tell us that you put in fresh gas, rolled the flywheel a few times, and drove her up out of there, I for one won't believe it. That is a truly great find. That beats any barn find I have ever seen or heard of.

A video as promised. You can see the 21 slipping and that ground already been lightly worked a few weeks ago. Pretty windy out. My dad shot the video with me driving.

I have a 14 foot offset disc and have pulled it with D21, 7030, and 8030 and I think it is plenty big enough, also a side note, have a friend that dug an old steam traction engine out off the Missouri river bank after Garrison Dam was built, looks very similar job to what you did but he did that back in about 1960.

If you are interested in the oilpull you can read about it over on smokstak. I warn you now though, the story turns ugly. I'm not going to bash anyone over the Internet but will say that they tried to take advantage of me. I wasn't going to let that happen. Read the story and decide for yourself. Pm me and I'll tell how really feel about the guy. Long story short- Basically it was cabled in a wide sandy creek with what was left of 7 traction engines (steam tractors) to protect a bridge from washing out. http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138727 |
