Wiring diagram shows generator armature terminal to cutout. Also shows discharge side of ammeter to cutout. Does armature go to unmarked post or batt post on cutout? 1948 G wiring back to original. Thanks

Ammeter connections depend on battery polarity. I presume positive ground. The the + post on the ammeter goes to the battery, usually at the stud on the starter switch. The negative ammeter post gets the wires from the lights, ignition, and bat terminal on the cutout.Generator armature goes to the other terminal on the cutout.
If negative ground the connections to the ammeter are opposite. + terminal gets the generator and loads, - terminal goes to the battery. Gerald J. |
