On my 1953 WD, I've not had a belt pulley in it for years. I recently acquired one, but when I put it in and fired it up, it leaked oil out the side through the opening in the frame rail. Is there some sort of seal that goes on the belt pulley to keep it from leaking? Is it the same setup on a WC? How does that seal get installed?
Thanks!

In for info as well, I'd like to get mine operational (even though I have nothing to use it on). It's RTV'd around the tube right now, but the cutaway diagram I found shows a seal inside.

There is a cork seal between the housing and the frame. If it was all dried out the cork broke when you pulled out the plug. you can see it if you pull the shaft back out of the hole and look inside the frame. you have to loosen the frame rail to put a new one in.

Not sure but it seems like I heard that you can tighten the 3 cab screws on the frame near the pulley hole, worth a try.

![]() Directly from the service manual.
Adjusting the gear lash is apparently an important aspect of the installation.
