In fall of 1984 I got Parsonage Turner Syndrome in my left shoulder and after severe muscle atrophy I regained control of that arm again in about 18 months. I went to a local neurologist who made up a name based on my symptoms. April of 2006 I got it again in my left shoulder, but that time it also disconnected my diaphragm from my nerves so could not breathe while laying down. That scared me REAL bad, so, after seeing a local neurologist he sent me to Rochester MN to the Mayo clinic. That is where we found out the actual name for it, nothing they could do for it, just wait it out. They did get me a BIPAP breathing machine so I could sleep in bed again-at Mayo they asked me how I was waking up in the morning as they expected me to not survive that without assistance! After severe muscle atrophy I regained control of that arm and breathing again in about 18 months. Neurologist at Mayo said he had never heard of anyone getting it twice, so I should be done with that forever! I got it a week ago in my right arm this time. I think I have lost 50% motion! I am a right handed carpenter, so not sure how this will work this time. I always compensated with my primary arm, and when the left one remained at 75% function I could work just fine. I talked to my boss about it Friday and mentioned I will probably have troubles doing what I have been doing, at the least efficiency wise. He asked me if I was willing to try and I said yes. So I do have a job, at least for now! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parsonage%E2%80%93Turner_syndrome |

Oh man, prayers coming your way. I'm sure with your skills and know-how, you would be needed to show and aid others. Some people make others better just by their presence, I got a sneakin feeling you're one of those people.

Prayers sent up for a rapid and full recovery. As JW mentioned, with your knowledge and skills you are very valuable in instructing and supervising the less experienced coworkers. And the Mayo Clinic can learn a lot from your battle with this ailment.

Tough one for sure to live with Harold. I'll be praying for you for a complete and quick recovery. Time to just be present and pass on all of your knowledge to the younger crowd until recovery is complete. The added knowledge and confidence of the rest of the crew may just be a bog boost for the company. God Bless.
