Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

good shot coke. looks like the A model is pulling a 12A 5ft. straight through cut combine. pulled a 1947 12A behind my d14/17d up until 2002 when we moved to town. it was a handy little machine. did 45 bushel soy beans one year with it. had to run the 17 in 1st gear low range at nearly full throttle to keep it from plugging up. dust everywhere. i ended up getting dust pneumonia. guy at the mill said our beans were some of the cleanest he had tested. no dock. wondered if we were using a Gleaner or a JD. told him we were using green. he said" i'll bet its a 5500 model". told the mill hand not to give up his day job for a speculator position. when i told him it was a 47 12A he asked me if that was an Oliver Model!........the only trouble i had was during oats season. broke off the right side (bin side) wheel axle shaft after dropping it into a ground hog hole. went to the neighbors and took the axle shaft, tire and rim from a junked out 66, welded it into place and finished cutting our crop so i guess it was a jd/ac 12A. jaaaa, a hybred !
the old all crop 60 i grew up around had much better ground speed and thrashing capacity without plugging up than the 12A but the 60 was heavier to pull around. both good machines and very reliable..........why in the hexx am i telling this story anyhow. i forget!

Here's a much cheaper PTO unit without the extra gas and heat.
