He's referring to the latchpin setup of a trip-bucket loader system. To operate the bucket, you set the bucket on the ground and back up, which rolls the bucket to a horizontal position, where a ramped-pin latch locks into the bucket. Stab it into a manure pile, lift up, get it over the spreader, and pull a chain connected to the pin, which releases the bucket, it spins, dumping load. Repeat.
The geometry of the trip-bucket doesn't lend extremely well to being made totally hydraulic, because the bucket's pivot shape is 'wierd' compared to a square bucket, but it can, and has been done many different ways. IMO the best 'method' is to use the double-acting ram centered between the arms, operating a 'hairpin' type double-lever arrangement. The problem, however, is that the trip bucket requires LOTS of reinforcement in order to remain rigid under hydraulic forces, and the lift arms usually need same to withstand the added leverage and weight. most trip-bucket loaders weren't really all that 'strong'... just stronger than a farmer with a poop-scoop... |

Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
