 Topic: Growing Up

A few days ago I got accepted to my local vocational/technical college and I am going to major in Diesel Technology and get my degree as an Agricultural Equipment Technician. This will alow me to pursue my interests and learn some skills that I can actually put to use (unlike going to a 4 year university for a philosophy degree). Me and my good friend have plans of opening a performance diesel shop after graduating where we would work on diesel pickup trucks and tractors. Just thought I would share this, Jeremy

Both my son's did that same course of study at UNOH in Lima Ohio. Oldest graduated last spring, youngest in about a month. Both have had many very lucrative offers for employment. Dont cut class and get decent grades and you are all but guarantied a job when you graduate. Good Luck!

Let us wish you the very best of luck. My one son graduated from Diesel Mechanic's school and has been in that field ever since. It is a very good career and is always needed.

Shucks, should have done agricultural engineering... that's where it's at. But I'm slightly biased, haha.

Great! My son is also a graduate of UNOH in Lima, Oh. Owns his own garage now.
The other son has the other degree you mentioned. Was on a free ride at Miami University at Oxford, Ohio cruising along on his masters when he got bored and quit because he knew way more than the professors. I'll bet he did too!

Congrats 37!! there is a BIG need for diesel mechanics out there!! a good friend of mine (and also my mechanic) is a in field mechanic...makes service calls in 2 states all by himself. he has been trying to build a new shop on his farm, but can't get the time to get it started, he's to busy! machines don't always break down near a shop or dealership, hopefully you will concider something like that when you 2 gagiate! i'll be pulling for ya in my thoughts!

Ditto on the business courses, they will be just as important to the success of your business as your mechanical skills and knowledge, maybe more. Be sure to take the first step after graduation and work for someone else for a while and make your mistakes on their dime.
