I added a second remote to my D17IV. I forgot to pay attention to the positions of the rods connecting the levers back to the spool valves. The control levers have two holes, one below and one above their pivots. I connected all three rods to the lower holes. The lift arm is correct, as it works properly by raising the lift when pulled back. I put the two remotes rods in the lower holes, but when I look closely at pictures in the operators or shop manual, these two rods appear to belong in the upper hole above the pivot. This would of course exactly reverse the way the remotes work, including the float position. I don't have any double acting remote cylinders to check it with right now, so I was wondering if anyone could confirm whether these rods should go into the lever holes above, or below their pivot points?
Thanks. |

The float position is opposite on the spool for the remote vs the lift valve. You would want the rods connected to the top side of the lever so when the lever is pushed all the way forward it can go into the float position.

Travis,
Thanks! That did the trick. I can feel the detent position now on the remotes levers. Next time I'll remember to take notes or a picture before I take something apart. |
