I've been shopping around for a nice series III D17 gas for a while and as always, what looks like a good opportunity shows up at the worst time. On Tractor House this one showed up: 1963 Allis Chalmers D-17 series III, all new tires, new rims, rear weights, 3 pt adp, runs great, $4,450
Heck it's not even two states away like the usual good deals are. But I've got an ugly drought ravaged corn crop so it's not the time to be buying new toys. LOL
I thought I'd share if someone else is in the market.

Thanks Guys but I'm not even thinking about buying anything untill after harvest is done. We're just about finished with the new shop and I'm not sure this was the year for that project, if it wasn't started before the drought we would still be working on dirt floors. A new to me planter was planned for next spring but the old one will do for another year or two. LOL

Just remember Dave, when you miss what you think is a really good one, that later on a better one comes along. Also the series IIIV is regarded as a much better tractor because of the factory 3 point and the live hydraulics that the series III doesn't have.

Thats a nice d17. Bet it wont last long. Around here, thats the perfect tractor for food plots, and they dont sit around very long.

I want one for my collection, we have both an early series I that was my uncles and a bar grill series I and a series II that needs some work that will get a 170 picker mounted on it when it's done and my dads series IV that is next in line in the shop. I'd really like my uncles series III as it is just setting in a shed as far as I know. My cousins weren't to happy that my aunt sold me the older one years ago when they were kids. Neither she or I knew they would even care. I promised them I'd give them first chance if I ever was to sell it. Most of the ones I've seen in good running condition with decent tires and sheet metal have brought $3000 - $3500. With new tires, rims and rear weights any other time I'd have already went to see this one. LOL Edited by Dave in il - 03 Sep 2012 at 3:04pm |
