Are you looking for the proper placement of the "25-40" and the A-C Diamond on the back side of the fenders?? I can barely see mine...not good enough to get pictures and proper measurements. Sorry.

A couple years ago I went ahead and bought a decal set from Lyle Wacker. I have the 25-40 decals and what I believe is a pair of diamond decals that goes on the fenders also. However I do not have a diamond decal for the back of the gas tank. Am I supposed to have one there. My old tank had one, but it has been repainted and who knows what went on then.

HI, Dave, On my 25-40 there was one on the L.H. fender on the inside on the flat. It was about 1 foot high and 18 inch long looked like it had white letters but could make out it said. The light had to be just right to see it. There was A-C on back gas tank and A-C on both fenders. IT also has ALLIS-CHALMERS on the side of the hood. I will try and see if I can get my son to post some photos don't have that fidgeted out yet

The large instruction decal goes on the inside of the left fender. It's the same as the 20-35 and I'm pretty sure most of the other decals on the 25-40 are the same placement as the 20-35. I can check on my restored 20-35 and get measurements if you like.

Thanks Guys: Phil, I also have the instruction decal for the fender. Did the 20-35 have the numbers on the fenders like the 25-40 did? I am not ready to apply the decals yet, but Darrell Grams called the other day with decal questions and got me thinking about mine. I could use the measurements for the fender decals though. I still have to reassemble the motor after wasting money sending it to Oklahoma to allow a certain character to diddle with it. I haven't got my tin work done yet , but I still am hoping to have it ready for the gathering in June. Dave.

I'll take some detail pics of my 20-35 and post them with some measurements. My decals were from Lyle Wacker and my reference tractor was a very nice original in the area that had most, if not all original decals still visible. I would like to get that tractor but it will probably never happen as it's been in that family from new and always kept in the shed.It still has it's original dealer installed exhaust whistle.

Dave, Rear fender decals are as shown. One set on each rear fender. The model numbers are 13 inches from the end of the fender to the bottom of the number decal. It is 16 inches from the end of the fender to the bottom of the diamond.
The large instruction decal is about in the center of the fender panel and measures 3 1/4 inches from the top of the decal to the top of the fender. The small oil filter, water drain and clutch lube decals Edited by Alberta Phil - 22 Mar 2014 at 2:31pm |

Not saying that any tractor that is restored with new decal's have them in the wrong place ,that guy could of put them just where the original decals where .
But you can not always go by where someone else put them if you are looking at pictures of restored tractors. Thought for the day. Edited by Fred in Pa - 22 Mar 2014 at 3:22pm |

And even "original" may not be truly original. What I mean is, look at this video from YouTube and pause it at 9 seconds in. To me it looks like the TRUE original decals were painted over and new (still very old) decals were applied over the original decals. You can see the faded outline in the bottom of the numbers where they didn't put them directly on top it appears. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, this is just what it looks like to me. My point is, much as Fred was getting at, that what is truly original is hard to know. These tractors are 80+ years old, and most all have been repainted at some point, even if that was very early in its life (which this example appears to have been). And on top of all of that, do you really think that they were laying them out with a tape measure at the factory? Highly unlikely in my opinion. They put them on and if they were a little crooked, or off center, it was OK. There are many documented examples of this on newer Allis tractors. I have a WD (original paint, or lack there of) that the hood decals are different from side to side for one example.
All that being said, I would like to know what is correct myself. I try to restore my tractors to as original as possible. Putting decals in OBVIOUSLY wrong places (or the wrong decals all together) on an otherwise nicely restored machine is big pet peeve of mine.

The person David is referring too used to frequent this site, but hasn't been seen in years on here. He hails from Chelsea, OK, or at least he used to and that's as far as I'm willing to go.

Did any of the 25-40's get the pin striping like the 20-35's?

David I ordered a set of 25-40 decals from Carol Wacker and got them on Friday, they include two diamond decals for the fenders, the 25-40 numbers for the fenders, oil filter decal, and the fender instruction decal, the large one on the inside of the fender. I have talked to numerous people that have stored a 25-40 and it seems that Carol Wacker has the proper decals, and that's what I am going to go with.
