    Posted: 25 Feb 2012 at 4:11pm
Been working on my 190 all winter, rebuilding Power Director, swapped out the original trans and rear end for a series lll in good condition. Put the platform back on and control consol. My question is, (should have taken pictures) how exactly does all the linkage for the position control from the 3 point, to the remotes all hook up, took pictures of some of the linkage, but not what i need to make sure its right. Could someone post a pic of there early 190's position control linkage. I can post pics to if that helps.

Thanks much, Carl.

You have to take the platform off to split it and put a new rear end in it.

Heres my question now, i believe the linkage is all hooked up right, but, in the first picture there are them two levers on the pipe, the pipe was locked up on the shaft, and levers fell off when beating the heck out of it to get it off, so I made a new peice of pipe and slid the levers on it, I need to weld the levers in place, what is the proper place the levers need to be positioned? According to diagrams the feed back lever (2nd pic) needs to be leaning forward. Is that correct?

Why is it everytime I try to get help on this forum I receive very little? Is it because im 19 years old? So im expected to know nothing so its not worth anyones time? I want to thank the few that do help me, appreciate it! I now have the linkage hooked up right. But now I need to know how the levers need to be welded. Yeah, I could guess, but when I know there are people on this forum with a early 190XT that could help....

Dave, most likely ill have to come look at the 200 to figure it out.

Carl,(NWWI) First, I don't have a 190 so cant help. I feel for your frustation, but until this post didn't realize you were only 19. Don't let it get you down. Sometimes these questions just don't get caught by the person with the info you need. Many people may only get on the forum a couple times a week so miss a lot of questions. Others may just be like me and not be able to help. Clsoest I could get for you is pictures from a D17 sereis IV but I;m sure they would not help. Just keep bumping your question to the top every couple days. I'm sure someone will see it and get you the info you need. God Bless

When I get home tonight I will try to get some pictures of what you need off of my 190XT, it is a series 3 but I think those levers are the same.

Thank you! They might be the same, I believe they changed a few things like that on series lll, but everything should still be set up and loaded the same.

Thanks much, Carl

Carl, next time you have to take the rear end out, take the bolt out on axel housing where TB linkage pivots, unhook PD linkage and slide shaft away from housing, two hyd. hoses going to lift cylinders, gear shift linkage, two bolts holding seat, and the two bolts under front edge of fuel tank. Then lift the rear of platform up enough to role rear end out.
I have worked on AC tractors for 50 years and never removed the platform for any thing. Only them other colors do you have to remove the cab or platform.
Good luck on finishing your project.   MACK
PS. I forgot D searies 170-185 with cab. Cab has to be remover for about any work behind torque tube.

I just found it way easier to do everything with platform off. Plus the linkages were all froze up. The pictures help a ton! Thank you!

Here are a few pics I took of my parts 190 I have sitting in the back. The rear tires are off and it was still a PIA to get pictures of the linkage, so I could only imagine how difficult it would be with a tire in the way. Also noticed that the last person to work on it did not hook any of the linkage back up, so not sure the pictures will help.

While you were patiently waiting for someone to post pictures did you try looking in a parts book, workshop or operators manual? agcopartsbooks.com has a decent picture and even my cheap I&T manual shows a picture that would get you very close. These are just a few of the other places I would have looked for information. After reading the adjustment procedure you may want to only tack weld the arms about 90 degrees apart from each other and then make sure you can get it adjusted before fully welding anything.

As Mack and even the I&T manual describes it is not neccesary to remove the platform, just lift and support it out of the way to roll the rear end out. Granted your work area may not have allowed for that? These are just a few of the things you will and can only learn with experience.

Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes or if you need any additonal help.

Also it may not be a bad idea to put a greese zirk in the piece of pipe you are making or use lots of antisieze.

Travis, I didnt know if anyone was going to help. Its not the first time its happened to me on here. I understand the busy schedule. i just didnt want go and do it and not do it right. I did put a lot of antisieze on it and the other ones that were locked up or tight as well. I couldnt beleive how hard it was to get off. We had it cherry red probably 5 times and it would barely move!
Thanks, Carl

Yup that is about the same picture I seen in the operators and repair manuals. There is also an adjustment procedure that is in the manuals also.

Carl, Sorry if I cam off as an ass... I too have been where you are at. I am used to doing alot of things by myself and have found ways to make things easier for myself. Service manuals, parts books, and even operators manuals can be really good sources of information if they are handy, but if not you have came to one of the best internet sites around for Allis and just about anything in general. This forum is filled with lots of knowledge from some of the greatest people I have not even met, but just as in life sometimes it takes a while for the answers to present themselves...

Its all good Travis. I do have a manual and I did look, which helped me get the linkage hooked up right, but it still didn't answer my questions about the levers 100%. I also found tonight the handles need to be all the way down for everything to sit right. So now I need to weld the levers in place on the pipe and adjust the linkage according to book. Hopefully all goes well.

Thanks, Carl
