I just picked up another 8010 out here in utah, it has a hole in the block and is pretty rough. I am thinking about making it an open station and turning it into a puller, I was wondering how much power the power shift trans will hold, and how reliable it is. It is a very late 1985 model, #138 from the last one made. It would be nice to fix it up and have a second 8010 on the farm, but it would be a lot of work, however I wont have much in it even with its ride back to Wisconsin and it would make a cheap pulling tractor too.... I think it would be pretty cool to have an open station, even though it wouldn't be "correct".
Tell me what ya think.... I will put some pics up tonight. Thanks, Andy |

i think a powershift should be able to hold as much as the stock pump will put out that should be a lil shy of 200 my two cents.

I've always thought the 7000 series looked better as open station, if you go ahead with the 8010, make sure you show us how it turns out. Didn't AC send a bunch of "open station" 8000 series to Mexico. My memory is bad, help me out here.

How are you planning to make an open station? Cut up the 8000 cab or mount a 7000 series platform? I'd strongly discourage you from cutting up a 8000 cab unless it's been rolled or structurally damaged somehow. They're very hard to come by for someone who needs to replace theirs. Might be able to find a damaged one to use for the conversion? Don't get me wrong - I think it would look awesome - just be prudent about it. They made more Series IV D-17's than they did all of the 8000 series.

Open station 8000s from the factory came with the cab frame, but no windows or upholstery.
