Put the finishing touches on tonight. I'll get some pics out in the sun before he pics it up. He brought me AGCO paint and decals, I don't know how much the decals cost but only had the hood decals, nothing else, and I didn't like those. Two halves on each side that didn't even match up, angle on the grill end?, and numbers came separate. And by the way, don't ever ask your wife to help install decals! I can redo the whole tractor but I was told I don't know anything about putting "stickers" on! I love her and all but she don't understand once the decal goes on, its on. I did shorten the air intake about 3 inches. The under hood support, I turned it and welded a strip of metal about 1.5 by 8 to it so that piece goes past the top of the radiator, the intake is very solid now.
I tried to keep track of my time on this one. On a different post they were asking about cost. I'm not going to disclose the bill but I only spent about $300 on parts, thinner, hardener and misc supplies and had right at 45 hours from pressure washing to driving out of the door. That includes probably about 5 hours of some miner fix it stuff, wheel bearings, lights, seat and so on.
This tractor accually belongs to my lawyer. I told him I was going to charge him the same rate for painting as he did for lawyering, he didn't think that was funny at all.
Thanks for looking

Looks great Leon!!! Tell me more about the Agco decals though as I am going to be needing some real soon for a D17 IV. Why did the kit only have the hood decals? Where did you get the rest of them? I ASSumed Agco would have great decals for what they charge!! Ryan

Ryan, I masked over the rest of the decals and are still there. I would not use AGCO decals again. The last two sets of decals I used I bought from Andrew Gubbels(on this site). A set for a 200 and one for a WD, was pleased with both. I looked in the Allis book for some pics of original 185 pics and those decals seem straight on the grill end, I guess I am just missing something.

Leon, I think you're right about the decals. Every 185 I've seen did not have the curve on the grill end of the decal. Deere also sells the numbers separate from the hood stripe, you get a kit with 9 different numbers that you put in whatever combination needed. Seems to me they would separate and peel later on. Paint looks great, you had great weather for it today. .

If it's a "Heritage line" decal set they buy them from the same suppliers that Steiners, Big R and other part suppliers use.

45 hrs x $150/hr = $6750. The tractor looks real good! I'm betting thats not the first paint work you have done.

Didn't have a choice on the decals, he bought them and said use them but I will not use any AGCO decals in the future. Scott this makes about the 11th tractor I have done, I'm still learning alot. But I like the way you figured the bill better than my way. Thanks for all the comments guys. Doing an 8' IH wheel disc next for a guy.
