Starting with tractor number WD45-165036, a three disc clutch was fitted into the same space as the two disc.

When you open up the compartment, the proper adjustment on the discs is a cumulative clearance between the clutch plates of 0.065". You can measure this with a drill bit or Allen key. If you have more clearance than this, gradually remove brass shims from the three packs so as to keep spacing equidistant around the periphery. The shims are only a couple thou each and get so compressed that the packs look solid, but they are not. Don't drop a pack or you will be draining oil and going fishing. If this fails to fix the problem, try Mack's rotating tip.
It this still doesn't work, you may have broken parts in the clutch pack and you are looking at splitting or stretching the tractor to disassemble the pack or replace it outright.
You want to make sure up front that your problem is not caused by cumulative wear in all of the pivot points in the linkage outside of the chamber.
If you have ever run the clutch without sufficient oil for any length of time, you probably have damage inside.
