My 180D was doing the same thing only it would surge to higher RPM once in a great while then die, Injection pump finally gave up internally.  Best bet, pull the pump now while it is still running and get rebuilt.   It is pretty easy to align the timing marks in the little side window of the pump by hand then remove it and then reinstall realigning the marks you would still be in time.

If it is gas, you probably have something closing off the fuel outlet in the tank like a piece of rust or plastic.
