Did Allis put a rubber edge around the exhaust or Air Intake holes on the hood? I am thinking about adding something to keep from scuffing the intake pipe up when removing the hood.

Also at the exhaust hole, there are 3 small holes equally spaced around the hole, what was that for?

No rubber edges on the D series hoods.  Three small holes have been added later in the tractors life

Interesting about the holes, they are so symmetrically spaced that is looks factory.

If a tractor had a cornpicker mounted on it, those holes may be for a thrash deflector around the muffler

These may be for the block-off plate, the under-hood muffler option.

it did have a picker on it most of it's life I am told.

If you could locate a plastic or cardboard tube of the correct diameter, you could simply slip it over the air cleaner pipe each time you removed or installed the hood.

The holes are for a muffler guard for picking. I got a round one and a rectangular one (for oval mufflers) with my 170 picker.
