New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) called for an end to the use of natural gas in new buildings in a policy blueprint released ahead of her State of the State address.

The Hill reports that in the blueprint, Hochul’s office outlined a plan to require zero on-site greenhouse gas emissions from new construction by 2027. The plan would also require energy benchmarking, or analyzing whether buildings are using more or less energy than those of similar sizes and occupancy levels, for large buildings.

"To make real progress on climate change, it's time to tackle major sources of pollution head-on, ensure greener housing is available to all New Yorkers, and pave the way toward a more sustainable future," Hochul said in a statement. "This transformative investment in green infrastructure will cement New York's status at the forefront of climate action and ensure equity in our transition to a cleaner, greener state."

Although New York City implemented a similar citywide requirement for new buildings in December, Hochul’s plan would mark the first statewide requirement if implemented. Such a plan would have to pass the state Assembly, The Hill says.

I read they are also banning the burning of wood for heat,  this better go in the political area since it shows the lunacy of the left.

I brought this same topic up, a few weeks ago. It utterly is amazing how the State of New York, contributing many brave individuals during the American Revolution, The War of 1812, has degenerated into the mess they are today, truly sad.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

so now the price of EXISTING buildings WITH natral gas just went 'through the roof' !! ?
the Hill article, no where does it state WHERE this 'green energy' will come from.
NT will be as bad off as Germany, IF the law is passed.
1/2 of Germany's hukes wil be orever offline soon, ONLY repacement power options...
1, buy from France's nukes or 2 ) Russian gas. Neither will be cheap and $2 might not be possible.

be interesting to see HUGE blocks of NYC go cold after the 'study' is done. Heard they still use steam to heat, made by matural gas.

I assume the new guv IS beong driven around in an amoured EV ??

Probably not. Probably driving around in the biggest gas engine suv with heaviest armor because the rules don't apply to them.

Biggest problem we got is New York city should be it's own state. Upstate use to control state Senate so to have some power but lost that two years ag. And like every where else, politics is a blood sport. I will admit it was fun to watch Andrew Cuomo implode though

Like California?? Several years ago they passed 1 real stupid law that said all eggs sold in the state had to come from Hensley that wernt kept in Cages. Company my son works for put up 3 or 4 new farms in Arizona so they could provide eggs for California.   For a long time you couldn't find eggs in the stores. What are the New York people gonna heat with? Their electric grid is almost overloaded now. I suppose the dimocrats are gonna tax it to death. What a bunch of total dorks.

If one would read the article in it's entirety, and think about what they are reading, instead of only looking at one side of the article, they would see the out.  It is planned to take place in 2027.  It is just a political ad for the next election.  It will probably go away after the next election.  I don't believe there is adequate natural energy to keep something like she is talking about alive!
