Dad was in a nursing home for the last 2 weeks. He passed last night.  His 91 year old body finally wore out.  He drove tractors and combines for my brother up until a year ago when it just became too hard to get in the cabs.  He had and drove tractors from the square back WC to my brothers 8070. Also owned and drove from the 60 to the M3.  He loved them all as we loved to see him do it.  He can join Mom now and we will miss him greatly.  I wish he had used this site but he did'nt want to use a computer.
A few years ago he was getting parts and waiting on the dealer to finish talking to a customer about a gps guidance system.  When that customer left the dealer said Red you need one of those on your equipment.  Dad's answer was If I can get in the SOB  I can drive it.  He was always direct !!!  LOL  Jim

Prayers from here in GA for you and your family Jim.
I lost my Dad when I was only 34, would have loved for him to have enjoyed time with his grand-daughter. Cherish the 91 years your Dad was on this earth and that you got to share life with him. You shall be together again.

Jim,  The loss of a parent is very hard.  Especially one you were so close to.
My father died a few days before his 91st birthday.  He also had a good life.  I think of him every day.
Please accept my Sincere Condolences on your loss.
May God's Rich Blessings be on you and yours.
Good Luck!

hate to hear of the loss of another of the greatest geneartion, and also another plowman,
i bet he was proud of his sons, and that he is enjoying his new surroundings, and i hope he could relate to this poem

A Country boy in heaven.

What is a country boy to do?
When he leaves this old world?
To dwell in that heavenly city,
Where the roads are gold,
And the gates are made of pearl!

Will he ever again, smell the scent?
Of Gods freshly turned green earth.
Witness the power of a sprouting seed,
Or the miracle of a new life's birth.

Will he ever again, catch the scent?
Of rain in the distant sky.
Or savor the rain washed freshness,
Of the air, after the clouds rolls by.

Will he ever again, look out at a field?
Where a crop, is popping up in rows.
And then drop to his knees, and pray,
For God’s blessing, and help, to make it grow.

Will he ever again feel the pride?
In a task, that has been well done.
Or the joy of watching the children he raised,
Grow into adults, he’s proud to call Son’s.

The bible speaks of a city,
That is built up there, four square.
And it also says, that God owns the cows,
On a thousand hills, somewhere.

Cities down here are something,
That I have shunned as much as I can.
I have never seen a thing in them,
That appealed to this country man.

So when my life down here, is finished.
And I move to my heavenly home.
I hope the place; he’s prepared for me,
Is a cabin out among the hills,
Where all of Gods cow’s there roam!

My kind of man, wheres the fun in a gps. You were both lucky, Dad is here with us now but after 3 years of Altzheimers hes not really "here" He knows us & the girls but gets confused about the 6 great grandkids. He wanders around looking at the cattle & feeds the chickens & guineas corn, and is happy, and WILL NOT go to a nursing home as long as I am able to care for him. My thoughts are with you...Harvey
