Can someone please tell me what the float should be set at on a 1930 U w/continental motor...I believe it is the original Kingston L-3 carb, Also is the standard 1 1/2 turns out on needle valve a good starting point...thanks a ton!

Bottom off, carb upside down, set float (yours IS brass, right?) so that surface of float closest to the carb is parallel with it (and of course the fuel inlet needle seated).
1 & 1/2 turn is good starting point. Yes, there is a magical, revered factory number for it in some manual, some place, but this will work for most carbs with conventional brass floats. |

CJohnS...yes it is brass, and what a weird flapper ball setup in the carb...never seen one quite like it. Thanks again. My Grandma lived in Lapeer for yrs...she worked as a nurse at the state mental hospital, which I'm sure is closed now. Thanks alot I'll give it a try.

You're welcome. That "flapper ball" is a very "sufisticated" mixture control, dontcha know?! Ya, the old state grounds buildings are gone - now have an extension university campus there. One consolation though, is that we have a Meijer's Dept store that competes with Walmart - and both have crops growing within 200 feet of the parking lot. |
