i can assure you michale that the HD6 would have been very easy to work on and repair anything on; compared to cats 933 and 955s; they are diabolical to do any work on. !
tits tyres and tracks

they all cost you money

I got about 3 hours out of my 11 today... new leak on the left bevel gear seal.. I changed the right 6 months ago...
I don't mind the repairs, I would just like a few more hours of work out of it first..

I remember my dad one time bought a cat 955 with a pony start he bought it for 5500 dollars in 1984 because the 6g threw a rod after about a month the start clutch went out so he pull started it and he got that fixed it blew 3 hydrolic lines in one day all I know after a lot of hard talking the ac was getting another engine and the cat was sent to the annual contractors auction .

seems I remember this stuff happening when they were not 'old' machines I remember my dad keeping a couple of 5 gallon buckets of hydrolic oil at the dirt pit covered up with a tarp and a couple of hoses in the floorboard of the dump truck and there was always a 55 drum of hydrolic oil at the shop

The fuel line issue must be going around like a virus i had to braze a fuel line yesterday from the pump to the injector i couldnt find were it rubed against but it sure got a small hole in it it. Started spraying fuel so i took it off sand paper the line and took my cutting torch with a bronze rod and some flux and patched it ran for about 4 hours yesterday afternoon and it never leaked again

But I am NOT!!

During the final work on basement excavation the old fuel lines started to leak, along with a trans leak, got those repaired with new lines to the seat area from the filter head and a new hydraulic filter for the trans. Yesterday after recharging the batteries overnight I fired the old girl up and started drain tile rock overfill and backfill only to have that interrupted with yet another hydraulic leak, this time the feed lines for steering oil needless to say from the little pump at the timing cover to the filter head on the battery box. Never seems to end so as soon as we get back from a little escape trip ALL the lines on the left side, fuel, oil, trans oil are getting a bath to see them then the axe!! Guess I should change all the filters and engine oil to ready the old girl for winter too.
