Yesterday I was using my 6080 to bushhog soybeans that I had planted for a cover crop. I was running about 1500 rpm in second gear really taking my time. About an hour in to the job the tractor rpm increased to 2100 rpm. I throttled back and that did nothing. Turned the key off and again nothing. I downshiffted to first and that dropped the rpm a little. I was thinking of a way to stall it out when all of a sudden the rpms dropped to idle where I had the throttle set. Raised it back to 1500 and used it for another half an hour with no issues. This whole deal lasted around 30 seconds. Any one have any idea what may have caused this?

Sounds like a sticky metering valve inside the injection pump. Bad fuel?? Might be time for a pump OHaul.

That was my guess, something pump related. I have been using on road diesel. What about some off road diesel for a little more sulfur and some Stanadyne?

on road, and off road fuel is same, just different color. Adding Stanadyne additive might help, but if the flex ring is breaking apart, it'll have to be serviced soon. A big piece may have got in the way of proper metering valve operation. I've seen this before.

Ok. I'll watch it. If it does it again I'll have to do something.

I was thinking that I had maybe run into natural gas leaking out of the ground and I was suddenly rich!!!! That's if I didn't blow up.....
