Just wondering if the smartrac feature was an option or if it was standard on all of them. Also were does it flex, in the throat?

When the R-62's came out in 1992, the smart-track wasn't even invented yet. I doubt that it was ever STD on a wheat machine. The throat is about 3 inches fatter on the front face moving the header forward a bit. I always said a 30 ft flex header in soybeans with a lateral attachment would do a better job of cutting beans than a 20 foot flex without a lateral feature.

So I take it the lateral movement is at the point where the head attaches to the throat? So any applicable head would work, correct?

The front face of the feederhouse is what moves. It stays on the combine. Gleaner header mounting changed big time(taller) in the 97 or 98 model year, so older heads don't fit without changes.

Can you manually tilt a later tilt head to either side? I followed a Gleaner rotor down a state hwy and he had his corn head tilted up to clear bridge bannisters...or so it appeared.
