Just tossing an idea in my head. Saw a small dozer for sale, Komatsu D21-3 Loader.
Power Shift. Looks to be around a 1980's model. 9000 lb range. Looks to be in great shape. Anyone here have experience with them? Light clearing use, cleaning up, moving rocks around. I doubt it would push over medium dia. trees, but I figure digging one side would let it do it.

Most of these I see are Dozers, but this one is a loader.

I am truly NOT a fan of Komatsu. I am somewhat perplexed why Komatsu did not clone the old Allis units instead of Cat but upgrading all the undercarriage and engines to later more available mechanisms to get around Cats.

I would check on parts availability. The discussion was on bigger machines, but once 10 years is past they don't care if you can repair or not.

Ray A bloke here that does dozer repairs tears his hair out with older Komatsu's. He has found that once your "new" Komatsu is older than 5 years Komatsu Australia no longer restocks on parts as sold. Apparently still available from Japan - if you wait and have the "right" part number

Most of the HE yards near here have scrapped the old Komatsu units as have stripped all usable parts off them and were simply hulks. That due to lack of new parts support.

Thank you for the feedback
I found most engine items, and track/carriage items online when checking around. Might be that small item that I can't find that brings down the whole machine though.

I was looking for something I could haul on my GN behind my 2500. Hence the weight looks good to me.

Well it may still work for you if the price is right, just have to walk away when the time comes. Thats my problem have a JD 2010 I with bucket and hoe delievered to my yard FREE. Drove off the trailer. Pulled the dip stick all the water was in the oil pan. Checked the engine pedigree, part the worst family Deere ever built. The sleeves all part of a header plate and in the unobtainium class of parts. It needs to go but I just hate to see such a cuit little thing get melted.

Ray, how about a motor swap ? I know nothing about the 2010 ... but you would think being a JD it would have a standard bell housing with SOMETHING else ?

Nice paint job. Bear in mind all those small Komatsus are DRY STEER CLUTCH and not friendly to maintain like AC tractors

I was looking past the paint to the tracks/carriage. From my un-trained eyes they look to be in good shape.

No frame rails on that model. Been told it would be a real job. I could pull it apart and if it is the bottom of the sleeve like the 6 cylinders in the old 95H combine we JB welded and that lasted until other problems. But gaskets maybe over priced as well and you need 2 as the sleeves are on a header plate, so a under and a over the plate head gasket. Very lovingly called 6 pack engines after a while.

My last boss had a komatsu. The darn thing looked like new, but it always had something wrong with it. It cost him a fortune to find out why it was overheating. No hired man to run it, he did it himself.
