Picked up a Russell Road Plow No.6 at an auction.
I find in old books (1916) it is for road construction and I am guessing, with a team of horses, etc.. However, not sure what its used for? Maybe ditching?? Thanks, Carl

I think you'll find that was the "rippers' of the day. Used to loosen dirt for scooping for whatever. Definitely used in dam (pond) construction - my father and various uncles were in that game. Dad and one uncle had, as part of their kit, a small one modified to make the furrow along fences for burying the foot of rabbit and dog netting
