This winter time is hard on tractors, starting being one with little use and cold. My wd sits this time of year except for pushing snow with the front loader. So it only gets used once or twice every week or two. The problem i have is it does not want to start unless i pull plugs and squirt gas in, then it fires and runs fine. I choke it, and can try to start but no success unless I pull the plugs, and theyre dry. Why? This is the first time this tractor has done this, but it seems to be a regular thing this winter. Prior to december after it sat for a couple months it always fired right up.

i had similar issue, I took off carb and turned over engine to make sure intake had suction it did ,so I took of gas line to carb to make sure it was supplied with gas, it was ,so I disassembled carb ans cleaned all orfaces, (which is easy) then I felt it had to be getting gas because gas ran out of carb when I tried to start it. My problem all along was the timing was just off a little I adjusted dist and now it runs great. My plugs are visually dry when I pull them out but it starts everytime.

thats right ck the carb and fuel feed.the call jim danforth and get you a CD ignition for the distributor.takes about 15 min.to install.but what a difference it makes in starting and overall performance well worth the money, which is not all that much...

I sure agree with j.w. on the CD ignition. Also agree with the gas additive, especially carb cleaner and stabilizer. I use it in everything that sit for any period of time at all.
