Stock head gasket is not holding any more I have a dry head should I just add fire rings or a copper head gasket or both and where is the best place to get them. Thanks for the help.

depends on how much boost you are making or plan on making. copper gasket and wire rings are good for 70 lbs boost and i have run 100 lbs boost with .105 fire rings machined in sleeves and copper gasket. Robert Alves made my copper gasket

If you want it fixed forever machine your sleeves and use .105 diameter wire rings with a copper gasket. The gasket bores should be the correct diameter so the block and gasket together will back up the wire rings. If you don't want to machine the sleeves Ed has some drop in fire rings you could use that will work too.
I think it has a lot more to do with horsepower than it does boost. You can make 300 HP @ 70 lbs. of boost or over 1000 @ 70 lbs. of boost. Just depends of the combination of things. The head gasket will work harder at the higher HP level. No matter it you do the .105 rings and everything fits properly you will have no troubles. Edited by O.P.S. Heads - 22 Feb 2015 at 11:19pm |

Yes, I have the size rings for a drop on, as well as the .105" rings for sleeve machining. This is obviously the more durable route to go. But not really practical for a 300hp farm class puller. The drop on rings are good to about 3-400 hp.

Check the obvious stuff too. Be sure the head is flat no matter what gasket you choose to use.
