Look for a Winchester model 100. Built in 60's and 70's Around $500 to $600 I have two they are nice guns in my opinion. Still have wood stock.

I have a Remington 700BDL bolt. Shoots great. I bought it for the same reason, just wanted a 243. Good luck on what you decide.

I would NOT buy a Rem semi-auto. They are impossible to take apart (you need a special tool) and clean. A Henry is $$$$$ What's wrong with a bolt action?

I used to work for a Farmer that had a Remington 30-06 auto Woodsmaster,, that rifle was never cleaned, bounced around in the truck - and always worked perfectly--Ive been waching too many westerns with the lever action rifles !! I have nothing against a bolt action- and luv the Remington 700,, probably will go that route
