Looks like a model U power unit. Same 318 ci engine used in the UC tractor and I believe the M crawler.

Thanx guys! I’ll find out if its a runner in the next couple of days. Plan to put it to work on a sawmill. Hoping a lot of work can get done at 4 gallons per hour at 1200 load/rpm’s.

Same as my UC except that one has the generator on the mag drive. Mine is 34 and has no electronics so didn't need a genny.

From 1929 to 1936 the U, UC and M engine had a 300 cubic inch displacement. Midway through 1936 the bore was increased from 4 and 3/8 to 4 and 1/2 making it a 318 cubic inch displacement. The hp rating was not retested. I have a 37 UC and a 37 U. If you hook that motor up to a sawmill and make it work hard it really does have a unique sound. Years ago I bought a power unit that ran an irrigation pump from OK tractor in Oklahoma, it even had the low oil pressure shut down switch on it and a twin disc clutch, electric start. That motor went into the 37 UC that I still have. Believe it or not they made the UC version of the transmission and engine up until 1954 for the Thompson conversions. The rear shroud supports looks nothing like the U power unit in Norms book on page 193. Makes me think your unit may have been built later on in line with the Thompson conversion line. Just a thought. Post a video if you get it on the mill working.

Uncle always said "Fill the back of the shovel and the front will take care of itself".
