A wide front would be too heavy most of the time to ever have a prayer of "balance" in a 5000 lb class.

True, lose the original balance and its over, i tried that with a 190 , stripped to 7000 , itd spin out way to easy, too much front weight

In fact, the one we had 20 plus years ago had a D17 NF pedistal to lighten it up more and move the front end down a bit over the stock D19 pedistal, which was taller. It was still nose heavy some of the time in a 5000 lb class with 18.4 x 34 pressed steel on the rear.
