I have an opportunity to pick up a HD6G, engine w/1000 on rebuild and some extras. the problem is that I would need to send the two HD5G's to China to buy the -6. what to do, what to do!

Could try Craigslisting them for a little bit first, I usually buy stuff I want if its the same price as scrap or close.

I like both the hd5 and the hd6. The hd 6 has a little more pushing power and the loader valve is in a little better location. The Detroit engine in the hd5 is a lot easier to get parts for. We have 3 hd5's and 1 hd6 In my opinion i would keep the hd5's but thats just me. Matt

Behind the engine, most parts on HD5 are interchangeable with HD6. Consider that before you send both the 5s up the Ho Chi Min trail Lou. Mac

personally i would keep the 5's. having 2 machines is always better than 1. i like the detroits alot better than the allis motor even if it is a little less power. not using it everyday i am sure. keep us posted.

Partial to the HD5 but when it came to selling the HD5B and getting the FD5 there was not any hesitation.
Between the 5 and 6 wonder if their is enough difference , 1/4 yard on bucket but otherwise about same . If later one then a little more height on loader lift. then 3 machines , just dig a little deeper in the sock , look in the couch for lost funds, must be some way to own 3 when it came to a choice of HD5G of HD4 . the 4 lost and was replaced with NH785 skid.
