The new potato digger didn't work to bad. If they had been planted before the end of June, been weeded better and dug a little drier probably would have worked better. |

I planted taters again for the first time in years this spring. Just 3 lbs of seed so I can grow them in Dad's old garden and share with siblings.
I mudded mine in the Tuesday before Good Friday. Then had to water them some between the early July and mid August. Now it's so wet, I can't get them dug. I did dig about half of them about 10 days ago, guess I shoulda stayed at it, even though it was real muddy. I used to have an old Hoover digger, but spent 10 times more labor working on keeping it going, than it would have taken to dig what I had grown. I also didn't keep the weeds and grass out of them late in the year, so they are near impossible to dig with a digger. |

Looks very functional. Surprised the G had the traction and power. Two bolts on each side; is the blade tilt adjustable? Herb(GA)

Looks good!----You must have sandy soil ! --- In this ground here that would never work! --- I tried something like that only on a cub and didn't get 10 feet with it. --later modified it to pull type and had to pull it with wd-45 and it was a load for it. I like your design and like you stated, ground needs to be dry and weeds must be kept out. ---No reason yours won't work in a good year.

Yep. Made it with 3 holes, level, 11 degrees and 22 degrees. It seemed to work best at 11 degrees. I don't plant that deep and I hill the taters a lot, so I'm really not going that deep. No sand here. It's very tight loam. If you drive on it wet you're screwed. And I did this year.....could not help it. No problem with traction. It was snorting a bit, but that engine is real tired.

Just goes to show - The G can do almost anything. When we sold them it was the most versatile tractor we sold.
Nice looking unit. Hard to believe the G had the power to do that. Great Job! Good Luck! Bill Long
