....just brought home a barn find find G last night.  It looks like a real time capsule as if the farmer was using it in the field and then parked it in the barn 40 years ago and left it.  It has a planter/fertilizer unit on the right side that drops down to two corrugated hoses in a two separate tin cups....also has a full side PTO belt pulley, cultivators, and other attachments.....all on the machine.  I got the G from "Billy" on this site.  Really cool dude to work with.....only problem with the unit is one stuck valve, so I'll have to do some research to see how to fix the problem.

My dads G had a similar life.  Dad used it when he was growing veggies and after that it got parked and forgotten in the barn.  One valve was stuck and it wouldn't crank because of it.

I just got a screwdriver to fit between the valve stem and the tappet and hosed it down with penetrating fluid.  Kept working it back and forth by tapping it down with a brass hammer and eventually it slid right out.  The bad news is I had to pull the head to do it.

I ended up taking the engine right off and hauling it in to an engine shop.  They resurfaced the valve seats and honed to block for a set of fresh rings while I was at it.  Bores were in too good of shape to bore they said.  Bearing also looked good so it just got a little freshening.

When I got my G I pulled the spark plugs and rolled it over and saw that a valve stayed open, you can see the valves through the plug holes. I put a screw driver on top of the stuck valve and tapped it with a hammer, it popped shut. I rolled the engine over again and the valve open again. I pushed on it with the screw driver, it went shut, and has not stuck again.

Have fun with your G, they are a unique and fun tractor.

If you got that G in or near Baltimore County Maryland it could well have been well one that we sold.

If you can get some history of your G it would be intersting. My grandfather sold a lot of them [Wertz Garage] in Lineboro. And Bill i asked dad if he knows you and he thinks that he remembers meeting you.Dads name is Fred.
The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?
