Ok, I have a good G block except for a 'pinhole' from one cylinder to the water jacket.
Has anyone had a sleeve installed before? My old Willys Superhurricane six had one done and every 'small engine' has them.
Wondered if practical cost wise ??
Seems a real shame to scrap as it's NOT cracked(first guy was wrong..)
Thanks
Jay

Where in the bore, like how far down is the pinhole and how big is it? You may be able to repair it with a steel epoxy product.
I had some severe pitting from water standing in two of the bores in my one of my 20-35 engines, about 1/2 way down the bore. An old engine builder advised me to clean the area really well and get rid of all traces of oil, then fill the areas with Devcon Plastic steel and let it set up for a few days. Clean it up and hone with a medium grit to level it off, then lightly hone the bores. I have run this engine for 10 years now with no problem and after removing the heads and looking down the bores there is no evidence of the repair. The piston rings have polished the repaired area so it looks the same as the rest of the bore. |

Hay...I found that Walt's tractors has sleeves ! $40 Man this 'internet thing' is kinda neat...though it took me 2 1/2 hours to find it !
Seems more than likely I can keep the block from going to China !!
