    Posted: 23 Nov 2016 at 3:07pm
I do a lot of mowing with my lowered B, thought it would be nice to have a fuel gauge.
So I cut the gauge area out of a rusty D14 tank and welded it on the B tank. Also cut the tank in half at the seam so I could sand blast the inside.
I think I'm going to like not putting a stick in the tank to check the gas.
Sorry I can't seem to get the text and pics in the right order.Angry

In the propane world those are similar to the junior/senior gauges. The black face are glow in the dark and the white face are standard. The glow in the dark is for transports and bobtail trucks with the round gauge. I just had not seen onethat small with the black face. Anyway, great job. Looks very nice and no more stick to check fuel with either!

Thanks Bill Long!
Chuck, No real ties to Parks, but I towed banners all through the 90s, had a hangar across the street from the Parks airplane parking ramp.
Sandknob, the gauge is form a generic Allis replacement from a tractor supply, a simple float type.

I like it. I have often thought it would be nice to have a gauge on the ole 45 and even had a gauge for a while. Just never got to the top of the list and I don't have the skills you seem to have to do such a nice job.

Bill, I thought it looked familiar.  I learned to fly in a carburated Cessna 172.  The 152 was cheaper, but I was too tall for it.  The 172 was tight too!

I looked in all my catalogs, can't find that generic gauge i used, they now have one with the Allis Chalmers on it at twice the price, $74, glad I bought it a couple years ago.

Very nice work on that gage installation and taking the tank apart and welding back together also! Looks awesome. Gives the "B" a little bling! Wished I could weld that well!
