    Posted: 22 Feb 2022 at 8:49pm
If all I can find for my front tires of front loader(10 ply-7.5-16 are spec)are 10 ply lt truck tires will they be sufficient for a loader that has a front lift capacity of 4000lb?( Each tire is rated at 2700lb,so 5400 total but there's the weight of tractor and bucket so is there a better option for a load rating?)
Rims are either a 5.5" wide or 6" wide. The most I would lift would most likely be 1000lb round hay bale's to stack a few high but I'm having a hard time finding true "backhoe rated front tires in this size... 11l-16 are much easier to find a true backhoe front tire but that's not the size rim I have. Thanks Matt

we have a CASE 530 backhoe/ loader.. Total weight  in the 8000 pound range.. We have 7.5  x 16 truck tires on the front.. No problems... but i think ours are 3300# each..

Look at 7.5 x 16 10 ply trailer tires also... 3400# rating.

Ok, in manual for this case 580 b it specs either a 7.5-16 or 11-16 and what's on it rim measure 5.5" wide( what's more confusing is what's on it is 9-16 but rub the steering knuckles even when driving straight and there cracking so I'm guessing they used a tube to get them to seat bead) so I could put 11-16 on it since sellers claim width on them is 9 and flip rims around to get more clearance or just use a narrow er tire if I can find 2 that will work...

Those would be great except they are 9 and 1/2 in wide and the current tires that are on it are 9 in wide when I measure them inflated and they are right up against the steering knuckle which I don't like. I believe mine are 5 and 1/2 in wide rims not 6 and 1/2? Thanks Matt

You will want something with a stiff sidewall for loader work. I had trailer rated tires on a 580C upon purchase and rolled them off the rims twice when turning with a heavy loader bucket. I went with 11L-16 F3 tires and new rims as the old ones were not original type for the tractor and never had another problem.

You have to remember that LT tires ratings are for highway use, which takes temperature, speed and sidewall forces into account.

What's odd is there's 2 different tire/ rim sizes in the manual ( they are 5.5 or 6" wide rims as close as I can measure with it mounted)with a 9-16 tire on it. I would do that but I worry about a 11-16 rubbing my steering knuckle since the 9-16 are already too close/ rubbing in certain turns...

I googled 7.5x16 10 ply tractor tire many available most on Ebay new 2 for 289 dollars. If you've got 5.5 rims you cant put 11x16 on them you shouldn't even have 9x16 on a 5.5 rim. I've never liked truck tire on the front of a tractor they just dont steer correctly the sidewalls have to much give and the tread isn't good they fill with mud and your steering with slicks

There are many for tractor tire that if I was putting on a regular tractor it would be fine but it's a loader/ backhoe that's 11000 lbs total with a 4000lb lift capacity in front bucket( I wish I could put 11L-16 f3 on it but rim is way too narrow and I'm not buying new rims that are made for 11-16 and then buying 11-16 tires, having them mounted to find out the offset won't work and tire hits steering knuckle ya know!)
I'm trying to see what my options are first before buying. Some guys say just flip rim around to give more room at steering knuckle others say you should not b/c it changes the steering/ handling capabilities (owners manual actually list 2 different tire/ rim options so I don't know if I found 11-16 rims if tire will clear steering knuckle?

well the factory made two rims and two tire sizes.. those should fit... If you want to keep your 5.5 inch rims, that pretty well determines what tires you can use. take one off and flip it over and see what the "extra" clearance is that you gain.

I've seen a lot of 580B's over the years with 11L-16 tires on the front and the rims have more of a center set than inset. I don't know if the rims are reversible in mounting pattern or not but an industrial tire vendor would be able to tell you easily what will work and they can sell you what you need.

It would probably cost more than internet purchases but there wouldn't be any risk that way either. Citing you aren't sure of your goals it may be worth looking into further. I don't do my own tire work and have all the tools for that task but not the knowledge so best sublet out.

Yes, these rims are drastically offset to one side( not center set)if I flip them it will give me 3" more clearance to knuckle compared to now that's 1/4"! I need to see if I can just buy rims that are for 11L-16 f3 tires and what offset measurements are if it would fit since there spec'd with both 5.5"&8" wide rims in manual...

As stated above, there are quite a few 750x16 10 ply 3 rib on the net. My old tire supplier, where I used to get them for farm loader tractors shows them but doesn't have any in stock. They won't publish a price till they have them in the warehouse. I used to keep a pair in stock, sidewalls were very heavy. You needed a premium grade tire slickum to mount them. Dish soap isn't nearly slick enough.

I installed these on a lot of chore tractors with, and without loaders including my own:

I only mow with that tractor which I call my "White Honkey". Those tires clean really well and do not slip around in dirt or mud much. They are 8 ply. On a backhoe however I feel they would be a little "soft" on the steer axle when loaded.

Gensco in Anniston, Al. Call Taylor @ 800.NO.FLAT  Sells Aircraft tires (new, used &   retreads) on new rims. I payed a little over $300 for Two used tires with new rims last spring. Can purchase with tire sealer inside. Used tires looked new. Got them on Case 580B, 5 tractors, 1 combine & 2 dirt pans.

I'm leaning towards these, sent a email to company. These are slightly narrower and should be strong enough.

Make sure your brakes are good if you are gonna use the slick truck tires. I took a lot of them off tractor fronts and put on 3 or 4 ribbers. Even with a loader on the front they don't turn good in the mud.

Loaders definitely put the front end under a workout... that's why I fabricated a much heavier steel front axle for my smallest loader.

Before you finish calculating load, consider this:

When you lift up a heavy load, the rear end gets substantially LIGHTER, because that weight is being transferred to the front axle.  In the circumstance of my smallest loader, it is not unusual for me to find out that there's NO weight on the rears.

That means ALL  of the weight... the load, and the tractor... are on the front tires.

No, I wouldn't operate it that way for any distance, it's RWD only... but I've seen guys with little 4wd's where there's daylight under the rears.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
