My dad and I had visit the Great Dorset Steamfair in the U.K. last week. It was a wonderfull show. On wednesday we drove by a touringcar with about 70 people from the Netherlands to England and stay till saturday. We also met Dave and Mark Everett and Dave's son. It was fun to talk with him and see some of his tractors working on the field.
![]() [TUBE]z_wb9-3AxPo[/TUBE] Here a video with Dave's son on the K doing fieldwork. I love the sound of the K. [TUBE]3S4PZTOJnhg[/TUBE] [TUBE]pYfLqF3WrwA[/TUBE] [TUBE]gxVUAyuz2gs[/TUBE]

Here are some more video's. For me the most impressed thing on the show was the Heavy Haulage ring with the steam tractors.
Normally the pull the generator up to the hill with four tractors (3 in front and 1 in the back). But because the ground was to wet they slipped away on the hill, so two tractors where in top of the hill and winched the other ones up. [TUBE]noE4kch90-U[/TUBE] When there are on the top. All tractors were again coupled to each other and drove slowly back. Very impressive. [TUBE]lRJMoVhSbDs[/TUBE] On another field they gave some demonstrations on sawing wood and chiselplowing on land with a winced up chiselplow. [TUBE]oHkM6SsoZIY[/TUBE] [TUBE]j-DJBkIQ4vI[/TUBE]

Thanks for posting. Looks like they had plenty of activities and enough ground that all who brought engines, tractors, and equipment had a good time.

The little M is a very nice. Those steam vids are great, they have some really outstanding displays at that show. One day... |

When fields were too wet to drive a big traction engine over, the cable plowing was used. I have seen a video of a "bottom" plow being pulled across a field with a cable. The steam engines would move forward to keep the cable lined up somewhat and the plow was steerable. It was also a 2 way plow and could be "flipped" at the headland so it could go right back the other way. |
