I have a 1958 D 17, it has been running fine. I hooked up my brush hog to the PTO and was cutting away when it decided to slow down and not move both the tractor and the PTO. Here is what I have, a tractor that when in gear will not move and the PTO will not spin. When I take it out of gear and put it in netural and let the clutch out the PTO will spin, no problem. When I leave it out of gear and move the hand clutch to high or low the PTO will slow down some but continue to spin. Any suggestions on what I have going on?

The gear box is in neutral and my high /low lever is also in neutral. I then move the high/low lever into either high or low but leave the gear box in neutral.

Any idea on the cost to have the clutch replaced?

$250 to $500 for parts depending on what you need and where you buy them. Four to six hrs labor @ whatever the hourly rate is.

If it's slippin that bad, you might need a different flywheel. My 45 slipped on me while mowing with a Brady flail copper a few times and the flywheel had heat cracks all the way thru and 3 or 4 inches out from the middle.

Might try to adjust the clutch rod linkage. It may be worn enough to be holding the clutch down.

Yea, I can fix that.....
