I HAVE A 390 AC HAYBINE WITH BAD WOBBLE BOX. IT'S PROBABLY WORTH MORE IN SCRAP IF I CAN'T FIND A WOBBLE BOX. ANYBODY INTERESTED IN ANY OF THE OTHER PARTS, BEFORE IT GOES.

I wish I had one. I would make from scratch a wobble box that would last. It can be done, I have done much harder. Can't find one close enough to get. Tracy Martin

While we are on the subject of AC haybines,I believe they made 3 models-904,829 and 390. Does anyone know what order they were produced in? - Just curious - And was there one that was better than the others or did they all have wobble box problems?

The 829 was first made from 1966 to 1968 and it had a pitman arm drive for the sickle similar to the drive on the 90 all crop harvester. The 904 came next made from 1969 to 1971 with the wobble box drive. The 390 was last made from 1972 to 1975 also with the wobble box drive. The wobble box was the weak point in both machines. The entire hay and forage line was dropped in 1975. I have one of each model and my personal opinion is if they had adapted the twin wheel drive to these machines they would have been a much bigger player in the market. Don Jr.

I saw one (390) at an auction that was converted over to a John Deere wobblebox off an 800 swather. It didn't look like it would be too hard to do if you have a welder to make some custom mounts. Parts availability for the JD wobbler would be much better. Edited by AllisFreak MN - 05 May 2012 at 8:42am |

Is the wobble box used on any other A-C machine such as the corn head on a 780 forage harvester?

Would a SCH Pro-Drive box work on that?

How much do you want for it instead of scrapping it?

If you run a search on the forum under my name or 904 wobble box you will see the lengthy disucssion on wobble boxes. I myself am looking for one also. Someone last fall indicated a wobble box off of a 720 chopper corn head would fit but I have not been able to confirm that. I do know the 409 and 390 boxes will interchange although the 390 has exterior improvements at the mounting ears.
