i broadcast and have for years after bagged fertilizer became so expensive, if a guy had a tender vehicle to handle the fertilizer it would be better for the crop in the row in my opinion,
but finding fertilizer boxes will be tough.
the old metal boxes are usually rusted out and most fiberglass boxs get busted after the metal auger rust up and break the fiberglass when not properly freed
i sidedress with a dry bulk buggy at the point that i can rely on the corn to straighten up about 3 feet, it might burn the top leaves a little but will soon green up out of it, i have done it this way since the 70's
