 Topic: R62 clean grain problem.

We are getting a large amount of thrashed pods in our clean grain tank. Fan is open all the way, fan sreens are clean, new belt on the fan, sieve and chaffer are set tight.
Is there anything else we can check or adjust?

Cylinder is sapose to be set on 6 and we have tightened it down to 5. And run the rpm's from 550 to 750.

open your sieves a little. i had the same problem with my R65 and had them closed too much and was restricting the air flow too much.

I have to agree. The seive and chaffer need to be open a lot more than you would think. Tightening them up makes the sample dirtier, I have found on my R50 and R52. The M2 is a little different animal...I have seen no change from running my concave clearnace from about 2.5 all the way up to 5 or 6 other than the odd unthrashed pod, that was an immature bean showing up in the bin.

First, if you are trying to do soybeans with a corn chaffer (1 5/8" deep tooth square or round tip) you may have to change to the short finger 1 1/8" standard chaffer. The lower sieve should be adjusted so soybeans can just fall thru it and maybe a tad more. Make sure the fan "choke" is actually moving upwards and not flopped all the way down and is clean on top of it.. You should never have to do soybeans at full fan delivery. Sometimes the cleaning fan blades are simply dirty on the inside of the curve and if they are matted over with a thin layer of gunk, they don't move air very well. A good hot water power washing takes care of that. Also the engine speed has to be at max factory setting.

in the older combines, make sure that piece of canvas is still hanging inside, about right below the engine....that will make a whole lot of difference... i had the same problem on my k & g, fixed the canvas and it was all good!

Well it looks like we got it fixed! The problem was chaff and oil built up in the fan housing from a hydraulic line that wore a hole through last year.
