I just found a good deal on a pair of 11-2x24 rear tractor tires and wondered if they would fit good on my unstyled wc? It has the solid rear wheels stock for a 1938. I've been wanting 12-4's or 13-6's.

11.2x 24 tires are way to small for a WC, the tractor will have the appearance of going up hill. 13.6 or 14.9 will keep the tractor level looking, and give more traction than the 11.2's.

In my opinion they would be way too small. I put 14.9's on my 35 and wouldn't think of going smaller than 13.6. I want to pull a 2-14 plow one of these days and want something close to what was original in size.

I have 13.6-24 on my CA, which look about right on there. 11.2 look quire small even on a CA, but would be a lot better there than on a WC.

I also have 12.4's on my CA. They look small to me because Dad put 13-24's on it right after he bought it to keep it up on plowed ground. The 13-24 is the same as today's 14.9-24.

Well, for the unstyled WC 11.2 x 24 was what it came with
Thad, if you don't take then, let me know, if I can figure a way to get them home and the price is right, I may be interested. I need a pair for my WC unstyled........and I'm going for original

The original size I believe was 11.25-24. However I believe the way tire size is measured changed twice since that time. Modern 11.2-24 are MUCH smaller than the original WC tires. The topic has been discussed here at length before.

Lou, they didn't make an 11.2-24 when the unstyled WC was in production. The 11.25-24 was the original tire and had it's number changed to 13-24 and today's tire that size is a 14.9-24. An 11.2 in today's sizes would be an 8.25 back when the WC was produced and would probably be too narrow to even fit the rim. If you want it to look like it did when new, the tire size is 14.9-24.

I wrote the original article that explained tire sizes and their change in numbering system over the years. It was originally printed in the Tech Tips section of the March/April, 2001, Antique Power magazine, and elsewhere. The 11.25-24 was originally mounted on an 8" rim, became a 13-24 tread width when mounted on a 12" rim, and later became a 14.9-24, which reflected overall carcase width.

Thanks for the help guys. I just thought they would be close to correct. Right now it has 14x24 grader tires and they rub the fenders and they are ugly and wore out. Tucker I wanted to ask what size yours had because they look good.

 , Here is mine with 14.9x24's. They are firestone irrigation specials and have more of a rounded profile.

Mike that is one beautiful tractor. It has the same wheels front and back as mine. I can only dream that mine will look like that some day.
