Help me with a FMJ Jigsaw puzzle?

   I am "refreshing" this FM J magneto and I need some help with the internal timing.  As you can see the sticker with the timing marks disintegrated.  I found three pieces of the sticker under the magnet once I completely disassembled it.  Two of the pieces fit the jagged edges, but the one with the "C" on it seems to be free floating.  I put where it seems it could fit based on the white wear mark along the edge.  Forget the white paint mark.  I put that there when I thought I saw a tiny "C" (before I found the pieces), but now I think it's just a mark in the glue.

Does anyone have a mag with a similar sticker they could post (or email me) a picture of so I can figure out where the "C" tooth is? -or-

I left the rotor on the other side.  Does anyone know how I can use it to determine where the "C" tooth is?  Thanks in advance.

	Set the rotor so that it is pointing to the #1 cylinder.The A and C should be at the bottom of the rotor. Try putting a drop of solvent on the gear at that bottom point to see if the mark shows up.

	If you didn't remove the mag base, you can time the engine by removing #1 spark plug and feel, with your thumb, air coming out of the cylinder, as you turn rhe engine over. Look for TDC at the inspection hole, then set the rotor at #1 spark plug wire position, and slide the cap on the mag base. Bob

	Thanks guys. Glen, I used your pic to establish some reference marks and counted the teeth from there. Also, it puts it the "C" between "5-6 o'clock" with the rotor at #1. I think this is it. (That is a new paint mark). Edited by RyanTN - 28 Dec 2010 at 9:44pm

	The easiest way i have found to time these mags is to take the small cover off and turn the rotor until it is pointing to the timing indcator or the large bump out in the cap were # 1 plug wire goes. then turn the small gear by the points until the marked tooth is straight up and then put on the cap and tighten the screws and your done.
