I have 14.9-26 tires on my D15 that are defiantly on barrowed time! Neighbor has a used set of 16.9-26 radials with some tread left off his 4wd that he'd give to me. The current rims are 12" or 13" width and I have no fluid in the tires. I realized the tires may bulge some due to the narrow rims, which I'm fine with. I'm hoping lowering the air pressure can help this issue some. I don't use the D15 for heavy work just pulling the sickle and hay rake. The info I've found online says this can be done but I've found little to no info about doing it with radial tires. Thoughts????

Go for it. You can try and run lower air pressure (like 8 to 10 lbs) to make them wear more evenly, but they're used tires, so the wear isn't that big of deal.

I bought a pair of 24" tires off the front of a 4wd tractor that I mounted on one of my D-10's. They ride terribly rough. Tread was worn unevenly.

I'm told that tires built for the front of a MFD tractor are built different then the same size tire intended for the rear of a smaller tractor. Likely why they are rough. 16.9 radials on a D-15 could be as low a 6 psi if they are tubeless

FWA tires are likely 10 or 12 ply sidewalls.

unfortunately I think I ended up with the last pair of 16.9x26 firestone rear tires in the country. They do look better on a d15 then a 14.9

One thing for sure with 16.9 x 26's on a D-15, it makes the drawbar higher, the PTO higher and the lift arms/snap coupler bell higher. On some implements, that doesn't seem to make much difference, but to other implements it does.

16.9’s are 2.4” taller than 14.9’s. Hence raising the drawbar about 1-1/4”, I can live with that.

With a narrower rim the 16.9s will have a more rounded tread shape, so will probably be even taller.

I put new front tires on the D15 last weekend and I had the tire guy out the other day to work on a leaking tube on the D17 and I figured why not have him put the 16.9’s on the D15. 3 tubes, 10 gallons of fluid (D17) and $800 later. I think the old D15 looks pretty good wearing 16.9’s!

That looks good to me. I always like the slightly bigger tires. They don't bulge out from the rim too much
