Early morning I sometimes watch Surfside Pier cam and see tractor pulling something. What are they doing, fluffing up the sand? Thanks

Does kinda look like it's picking up the sand and screening it? Can't believe there's much trash out there but what do I know? Thanks

Used to do exactly that during the swim season at Lake Springfield back in the 70's. Kind of a finely spaced cultivator type thing that fluffed sand and debris into a screened bottom catch pan that was followed by closely spaced tines for grooming the sand.

Kinda think they groom the beach and then put out chairs and umbrellas for rent? Figured somebody was making money.

They’re probably cleaning up whatever the recent high tide brought into the surf?
Back in the 1980s, Delaware surf debris could have been anything from NYC’s trash barges that were being emptied off the Atlantic’s coastal shelf?? |

Va Beach uses a newer version of the Beach maintainer, appears to work very similar to AC's version. I stay there once a year and when they wake me up in the middle of the night grooming the beach, I usually go on the balcony to watch for awhile. Trucks were spaced a block apart to accept the trash that it picks up. They use a JD Cab tractor to pull it. Would be a pretty sweet job.

Watched the Allis Beachmaster do its thing on Waikiki beach in Honolulu in the 1990's about 5 to 6 AM while getting to the Navy base in time for work. The Beachmaster picked up the trash and bottles and left a fresh great looking beach devoid of yesterdays sand castles and foot prints.
