For last couple weeks have been working on new retail site (hauling in) here a few miles from house. Site was suppose to be "0" site for material, meaning all cut and fill was on the property.
So far the site is 11,000 yards short on material , engineers and designers say the dirt shrunk that much from moisture being lost from dirt being disturbed.
All I know is 20 trucks hauling for 3 days so far have another 3 or 4 days work.
This is not the material going into parking areas or the other graded or spec materials used in project. Just the sub-base for the roads and lots and final grading of retention ponds and such.

I dare say they missed their calcs a bit! I know quite of few "enga's" or enganeers, they most times can hit the mark pretty close, but should they get too cocky or try to squeeze too hard on figures to gain a contract they generally miss large! At least you get 3-4 more days and materials to haul!

Seems like if there contract numbers are off, depending on how the contract provisions are written - should be order on contract. |

Sometimes you dig a hole and there is more than enough dirt to fill it back in, and sometimes there ain't enough.... I heard it was the phase of the moon.
I wouldn't doubt the amount of moisture in the soil had something to do with stuff like that, but I couldn't imagine how much |
