The upper steering shaft bushing on my 1940 B is badly worn. What is the general process for replacing this bushing? Pain in the but job?
Thanks in advance. Chad ![]() |

take steering wheel off, loosen clamp on steering box for the sleeve, slide sleeve off, will probably have to take off tin for tool box to get sleeve off, knock bushing out on way off, install new one, put back together, not terrible to do, just rebuilt gemmar box on our 38B

Mike, if you are asking me, I’m not sure. I’m making the bushing. 1.375 OD, 0.750” ID. Can’t stomach paying $30 for a little plastic bushing.

Jim, pull the steering wheel first and look down the hole.. I have been able to pick them out or push down 1 inch to get out of the way... New bushing only needs to go into the tube just below the surface so the wheel will fit back on..
Seems like you have to dimple the tube or put glue on the bushing to keep it where you want it ..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
